Martial arts have been a passion for me since I first started training nearly 20 years ago with Chung Do Kwan Tae Kwon Do in 1994. During this period I attended every grading possible and sometimes double graded, and won a gold and silver medal at Tae Kwon Do tournaments. After attaining Black Belt level I had to move to Armidale where I then trained with Anthony Kelly in Go JyuRyu Karate and Hung Kuen Kung Fu. I trained with Anthony for 7 years and graded to a 2nd degree Black Sash in Hung Kuen. In 1999 I competed in 6 tournaments and was ranked No 1 in ISKA for full contact fighting, and attained medals and ranking for point sparring, form demonstrations, and board-breaking.
In 2000 I studied a full-time martial arts instructorís course in Brisbane under Patrick McCarthy with a focus on the Karate style KoryuUchinadi. During this time I also founded a Kung Fu club teaching Kung Fu. After exploring the styles of Tong Long, Wing Chun, and Tai Chi I started training inLiu He Ba Fa with George Loupos and then Grandmaster Bill Aziziwho both trained with Grandmaster Cornelius Coelho.
I now run the New England Branch of the Eye of the Eagle Martial Arts Academy and teach Tiger style Kung Fu and beginnerís classes in Liu He Ba Fa/Tai Chi.I aim to empower my students to discover how their training can improve their lives in many ways. I am also a Chinese Medicine Practitioner and run clinics in Armidale and Walcha.
Training with Grandmaster Azizi has taught me how to work on many aspects of Martial Arts from the physical to the mental/internal sides as well. He has helped me to grow in the areas that I need to walk clearly to my goals in Martial Arts.
For me, martial arts teach you about yourself and the world around you. It tests your commitment, discipline, and patience, and through this you gain confidence, strength, and humility.
